Dancing With the Stars, Week 2, Performances

Thankfully, Dancing With the Stars is being reduced to just three hours of TV this week. They were able to cram in all the performances, both male and female, into last night's show. I don't think we missed a thing.

I'm definitely not missing, Samantha Harris, I'll tell you that much. The only time I liked her was when she was with child. It's hard to dislike someone that's pregnant and all. Yet, she also just didn't seem to be nearly as annoying. Since she had just given birth before the start of the season, Drew Lachey has graciously stepped into her shoes, and I'll add he's filling them quite well, yet thankfully he's not in pumps. However, he is a little on the short side, so he might want to consider it. It would be great if he could just stay permanently, but I don't think we'll be so lucky. I'm sure she'll be back as soon as she's ready. Besides, he has something waiting for him in the way of a "spin-off" of DWTS. Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli will help teams of dancers face off against each other, with Lachey hosting the show.

Someone else they need to get rid of on the show is Wayne Newton. Sorry, but this guy isn't showing any personality at all. Mr. Las Vegas should stay there. He looks like he's been getting Lisa Rinna's lip treatments all over his face, with that perma-grin he's sporting. And the rest of his body seems just as stiff. Just the opposite is Marie Osmond. She couldn't be more pleasant. She's admitted that the dancing experience is making her realize how out of shape she is, but who cares? She's cute as a button out there and knows how to play to the crowd, especially when brothers Danny and Jimmy are in the audience.

I don't dislike Mark Cuban as much as the judges do, and from what I'm hearing from other fans, I'm not alone. He also seems to know how to play to the crowd, and he always looks like he's having the time of his life. Why was that okay for Billy Ray Cyrus and Jerry Springer, but not Mark Cuban? I'll agree, the guy struggles with rhythm a bit, but he somehow seems to pull it out. He just didn't seem as bad as his score of three 6s would seem. I suspect he'll still be there at the end of the night.

Although, that being said, I don't know who it is that should go home, other than Wayne. I wouldn't mind seeing him leave, but I just don't think it will happen. I think they were trying to duplicate the older man thing they had going in seasons past with John O'Hurlihey, Jerry Springer, and George Hamilton, but Wayne doesn't seems to have half the personality of any of those guys, despite seeming to have the same tan as George.

It could be Floyd Mayweather, the boxer, leaving, as his scores are only average, and he doesn't seem to have the popularity of others. If a girl leaves, maybe Jennie Garth will go, as the judges are so-so on her as well. I guess it all depends on if the 90210-ers are the voting kind. It's just a tough call this week.
